Sidney Crosby
is now the man in all of sports I officially love to hate more than anyone. If it wasn't bad enough that he got a cheap BS Cup title, since the NHL refuses to follow clearly defined rules, he scores the GW for Team Canada. Fuck Crosby. Fuck him up his stupid ass. Any other Canadian could have scored the GW and I would not be pissed off about it.

fact 1: sidney crosby scored the final goal of tonight's game, USA loses.
fact 2: sidney crosby helped the penguins to win the stanley cup.
in sports, you must take the bad with the good and not make excuses after the fact or take it personally when he does his job well. ovechkin is nasty good and fucking sticks it to the pens every time we play. i LOVE the fact that someone like him exists and he plays so awesomely. it elevates the level of competion between the teams, which leads to heightened levels of athleticism. why hate on the yang that complements the ying, and makes everything better overall? sports would suck if you just had a monster stacked team that would win everything because the competition would be meaningless -- there'd be nothing at stake. thankfully, that's NOT what we have, but that means we probably can't win all the time.

Dude, seriously? Come on now, that is absurd. Half the fun of sports IS hating the opposition. That is what makes rivalries and such so amazing. Where I grew up, we learn at a young age to love to HATE on everything Ohio State related. Are you honestly saying sports fans shouldn't hate on the opposition? That seems so soft.
fact 3: I am allowed to be pissed when a Pittsburgh star player (Malkin) isn't suspended when the rules CLEARLY dictate he should have been. That's not a judgment call. That is the NHL not enforcing a rule.
i like doing it in a jovial fashion, but hating a particular individual is just silly and reduces sports to a male soap opera. i'm more into it to see feats of athleticism.

Maybe I did not come across clearly I think. I don't actually hate Sidney Crosby. I don't want to see bad things happen to him in real life. I sports-hate him. Bill Simmons is an awesome writer and can sum it up better than I can.

You are right about not controlling things and not getting pissed, that is for sure. But F it, it's FUN to get into it about sports.
